24mo. 3 3/4 "x 5 3/4". 71pp. Sixth edition. Blind-stamped green cloth with gilt lettering. Light foxing, corners bumped. With two fold-out maps of the floorplan of the Capitol Buidling and three fold-out engravings, including a birds-eye view of "Washington City". Very good. Rewritten not long after the Union was made whole again at the end of the Civil War, this guide contains, "the essential rules of polite society" in the metropolis of Washington, DC. According to the authors, "It is believed that no work of the kind embraces a greater amount of valuable information for stangers and citizens in so short a compass."
