4to. Unpaginated. Selections from Dante's Divine Comedy vividly brought to life with exquisite illustrations by Margaret and Helen Maitland Armstrong. Gray paper over boards with cream cloth spine and paper title label affixed to upper right corner of the front board. Paper covering boards rubbed at edges. Boards poking through paper on corners. Internally tight, bright, and clean. Some age toning, but no fading to paper title label on front board. This copy has decorations by Armstrong on the front and rear pastedown fly-leaves. The title Ad Astra refers to a quote from Seneca, which, translated, means, "Not easy is the passage from the earth to the stars", a concise and fitting summation of Dante's classic work.
