Vellum cords with fleur-de-lis shaped raised device and yapp edges give a medieval style to the binding. Upper board painted with a rubricated initial, floral border, and a central frame of laurel leaves featuring a portrait of Dante in his scarlet robes against a starry sky. Lower board features an urn with flames against a starry in a similar frame of laurel leaves and floral border. Spine painted with scarlet flourishes. Unique.
