A little very light foxing, a couple of pencil marks. A very good, uncut copy. First edition. ESTC lists only six copies in North American libraries. Thomas Penrose (1769-1851) was the son of Thomas Penrose, the poet (1742-1779). The younger Penrose was admitted on the foundation of Winchester College, became fellow of New College, Oxford, and vicar of Writtle-cum-Roxwell. (See Oxford DNB.)
